2. Identify the components of the biosphere

Q: What are the parts that make up the biosphere?
A:

A. Living Things (Biotic Components):

  • Plants (flora) – trees, grasses, crops, flowers

  • Animals (fauna) – insects, birds, mammals, fish

  • People (humans)

  • Microorganisms – bacteria, fungi

B. Non-Living Things Supporting Life:

These are borrowed from the:

  • Atmosphere – air (oxygen, carbon dioxide)

  • Hydrosphere – water (rivers, lakes, oceans)

  • Lithosphere – soil, land, rocks

Note: These non-living things are not part of the biosphere, but they support the biosphere.
