. Origins of the Kingdom

  • The kingdom originated from the Karanga subgroup of the Shona people, believed to have migrated from the Katanga region in Zaire.
  • These people initially established Great Zimbabwe, which served as a chiefdom and precursor or (an early foundation) to the Mwenemutapa Kingdom.
