Major Challenges and Crises in Post-Colonial Africa
- Weak Economies
Many African countries were poor and depended heavily on foreign aid. Their economies relied on a few export products (like coffee or copper), making them vulnerable to changes in world prices.
- Civil Wars
Internal conflicts occurred in several African countries, such as Angola, Rwanda, Mozambique, Burundi, Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
- Military Rule
In some countries, the military took power through coups, replacing civilian governments. Examples include Nigeria and Ghana.
