Immunity

  • The ability to protect the body from diseases and infections.

Antibody

  • A protein produced by the body in response to an antigen.
  • It neutralizes and reduces the toxicity of an antigen.

Antigen

  • Any foreign protein that stimulates the production of antibodies when it enters the body.
  • Antibodies are made by white blood cells (WBC) called lymphocytes.
  • Antibodies are produced a few days after disease attack.
  • Lymphocytes remain after infections to remember any attack from the same antigen and are called memory cells.
