🎭 Act 5: Downfall (8 scenes)

Scene 1:

• Lady Macbeth sleepwalks and imagines blood on her hands.

• Her guilt is destroying her.

Scene 2:

• Scottish soldiers plan to meet the English army to fight Macbeth.

Scene 3:

• Macbeth prepares for battle, still believing the witches’ prophecy.

• He learns Lady Macbeth is very sick.

Scene 4:

• Malcolm orders his soldiers to cut branches from Birnam Wood to hide their numbers — fulfilling the prophecy.

Scene 5:

• Lady Macbeth dies (likely suicide).

• Macbeth hears Birnam Wood is moving — he realizes the prophecy is coming true.

Scene 6:

• Malcolm’s army approaches the castle.

Scene 7:

• Macbeth kills Young Siward in battle, feeling powerful.

Scene 8:

• Macbeth fights Macduff, who reveals he was born by Caesarean (not “of woman”).

• Macbeth is killed.

• Malcolm is declared King of Scotland and peace is restored.
